The demand of richer-content information (i.e. audio, video, virtual reality) and Multimedia traffic delivery over communication networks is increasing and will continue to increase in the coming decade. This trend characterized new immersive paradigms with two main requirements from both the network and the user perspectives. First, the new paradigms for multimedia networking with sophisticated content processing and efficient real-time delivery through heterogeneous networks. Second, new user-centric user interface paradigms where multimedia data will enhance the interaction and people's wellbeing in a revolutionary manner (i.e. 3D immersive mixed-reality remote interaction).

Our research results in this area will allow innovative pervasive scenarios, highly enriched with sophisticated 3D mixed reality and multimedia interactive content. This content will convey to us auto-configurable services wherever we are and whenever we need them.
